Dan Minkoff is a communications professional who has designed and led public relations programs for corporations, elected officials, educational institutions, small businesses, and nonprofits for more than 25 years.
After working in the public and private sectors, he now puts his strategic communications, public relations, media and community outreach, executive and thought leadership communications, speechwriting, message and content development, and public affairs experience to work for clients as the principal of DRM PR. Throughout Dan’s career, his most successful campaigns have followed a simple yet powerful principle: PR must move your audience. Communications is not passive. There must be a reason for stakeholders to care, to join, to click, to buy, to volunteer or to contribute.
As principal of DRM PR, Dan brings his experience and expertise to help clients build brand and name recognition, become better known as a thought leader in their industry, reach influential decision-makers, assist business development efforts, and strengthen employee recruitment and engagement efforts.
Before DRM PR, Dan led the development, planning, and launch of an external and internal strategic communications program for a privately-owned architecture, engineering, and construction management firm. Previously, Dan led client communications as a member of the program management team for the Los Angeles Community College District’s then-$6.1 billion bond construction program, the largest sustainable education building program in the nation. Dan also managed communications for City National Bank and for Bank of America, supporting geographic market regions and business lines, including consumer banking, business banking, wealth management, and international banking services. His PR agency work included client accounts for developers, capital providers, commercial real estate investment firms, architecture and design firms, residential and commercial brokerages, a university real estate and economics research center, and a nonprofit provider of service programs for rental housing communities.
In the public sector, Dan managed communications and federal government reporting for Los Angeles Mayor Richard J. Riordan’s small business development programs, and later served as the deputy chief of policy and communications for Los Angeles City Councilman José Huizar.
Under Dan's direction, the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer initiated its first community relations program. He began his professional career as a sportswriter covering professional, college and prep sports.
Dan studied political science and English at California State University, San Bernardino and completed a political science summer institute program at Georgetown University.
A lifelong resident of Southern California, Dan has served on the board of the Public Relations Society of America-Los Angeles Chapter, AYSO Region 177-Long Beach/Belmont Shore, where he also was the regional referee administrator, and Boys and Girls Clubs of the South Bay. He is currently a member of the School Bond Citizens' Oversight Committee for Long Beach Unified School District.
